SWE Executive Director and CEO Karen Horting was a panelist at last week’s “Engineering Diversity: A Workshop for Program Planning.” Hosted by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) during their 2015 Spring Meeting & Global Congress on Process Safety, the workshop brought together industry leaders, numerous companies’ diversity representatives and a number of AIChE members from underrepresented and underserved groups. Participants shared experiences and ideas, leading discussions concerning the importance of workplace diversity to help participants align their services with industry demands.

Besides participating in the panel, Horting also sat down with AIChE Fellow Zenaida Otero Gephardt to further discuss diversity in the workplace. Check out the interview and share your own experiences and ideas in the comments below.
