This week’s SWE Section Spotlight comes from Region F. Meet SWE Hartford – a professional sectioncovering the Central and Northern sections of Connecticut as well as Central Massachusetts.

SWE HQ reached out to the section last week to request content for this blog post feature. We asked the section’s president, Sarah Koening, to provide highlights and happenings going on up in their northeastern section of the woods.

Sarah mentioned one of their members (and past section President), Michelle Montepara, was recently announced as SWE Distinguished New Engineer recipient. The Distinguished New Engineer recipient honors women engineers who have been actively engaged in engineering in the first 10 years of their careers. Congrats to Michelle!

SWE Hartford has also beengrowing! “Our section membership now has two section representatives, which we were pretty proud of. Many thanks to the Employee Sponsored Dues membership-program launched by SWE. It’s definitely assisted in our progress,” Sarah says.

Last but not least, Sarah mentions, “SWE Hartford is celebrating SWE’s 60th anniversary, as a section, this year, with an event in November. The event is not entirely engineering related, however, we are launching a Professional Development series on Public Speaking. In hopes to better serve our members and encourage them not only to _ÑÒsit at the table_ѝ, but alsobe active contributors when it comes to speaking publicly.”

Follow along with SWE Hartford on Facebook and Twitter.
