Members from SWE South Ohio Section met at Bicycles for All in Kettering, OH on Sunday, July 10 for a hands-on networking event. The group successfully repaired 15 adult bicycles in just two hours following a quick demonstration for basic bike repairs! The women jumped right in started turning wrenches for repairs ranging from tire tube replacement, gear and wheel alignment, fixing brakes, and spoke balancing.
“It is refreshing to participate in an event that allows you to utilize your engineering know-how in a fun, hands-on networking opportunity which also supports your local community.” said Lindsay Gerding, SWE South Ohio Secretary.
Bicycles For All is a nonprofit volunteer organization whose mission is to promote bicycling by offering affordable used bicycles and accessories, affordable bicycle repair and bicycle related education.Proceeds from the sale of these repaired used adult bikes support the Free Kids Bike program where any child can pick out a bike to ride at home.
