SWE Launches New Challenge to Engage SWENexters
SWE is excited to announce the first FY18 Wow! Innovation Challenge. This challenge will focus on how SWE sections recruit and engage SWENexters.
Apply for the FY18 Wow! Innovation Challenge by October 6
The SWENext program is in its third year, and over 1,600 SWENexters have graduated from high school. With that in mind, SWE is kicking off the FY18 WOW! Innovation Challenge with a focus on transitioning SWENexters to college. We are also launching a video competition to inspire all collegiate sections to start recruiting SWENexters. SWE is excited to announce the first FY18 Wow! Innovation Challenge. This challenge will focus on how SWE sections recruit and engage SWENexters as they transition to college. Share best practices and tips on planning events (e.g. Freshman Orientation activities) designed to welcome SWENexters as they join your section and your institution. Visit here to learn more information about this challenge and how to apply. The deadline to submit your challenge is October 6, 11:59 PM CT. One section/MAL/affiliate will be awarded a $500 Outreach stipend, featured on SWE social media, and the SWE All Together blog. Questions about this challenge? Check out the Wow! SWENext is a way to become part of the Society of Women Engineers as a student through the age of 18. Become part of SWE and #BeThatEngineer! Joining is free.
Families and educators play a key role in the success of SWENexters. The SWENext program offers resources and information for adult advocates as well.
Who can be a SWENexter?
Any student 13 or older may join SWENext. For those younger than 13, a parent will need to be the primary contact.
