As part of our Women Executives in Engineering series, Jonna Gerken, FY18 President of the Society of Women Engineers, talks to Monika Panpaliya who is the Senior Director of Information Technology and Data Analytics for Boeing International. She’s responsible for executing the IT strategy, operations, and processes, supporting non-U.S. sites in 65 countries and managing a global organization of 200 employees.

In her current role, Panpaliya has dual reporting lines to Boeing Chief Information Officer and Boeing International President. In addition, she serves as the Executive Site Leader for more than 500 IT team members in India and is responsible for driving scale and performance at the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center in Bangalore. In her previous role, Panpaliya was Director for End User Infrastructure Services (EUIS), based in Seattle, responsible for all end user computing services inclusive of mobile, communications, collaboration, desktop and print services that serve the majority of the Boeing Company. She was recognized for top employee engagement scores within Engineering, Operations and Technology in this position.

Prior to joining Boeing, Panpaliya worked for 12 years at Sprint in Kansas. She held various roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of Product Development, Network Services, Technology Research & Development and Information Technology. During her tenure at Sprint, she was awarded seven patents, “Sprint CTO Award,” “Sprint Excellence Award” for technology research and innovation.

Panpaliya grew up in Pune, India, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Pune. In addition, she has a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Monika was awarded the 2012 STEM National Women of Color in Technology Award by CCG Magazine in USA. She completed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram from Kansas in 2008 and enjoys hosting and performing at dance concerts. Currently, she resides in Bangalore, India with her husband, Kishor, and two boys.
