Senate Training Completed
In August, the last of three web based trainings was completed for the FY13 Members of the Senate. The training covered Senate Structure, Senate History, SWE Finances, Procedures, and Robert Rules of Order. A BIG thanks to all of the presenters and to all of the senators that participated in the training calls. It was a lot of material to cover, but very valuable training to start the year off correctly. The presentation for future reference is posted in the Senate Community under Document Collaboration.
Mega Issue Team- Laying Ground Work
The FY13 Mega Issue (MI) Team has just started their work for the year and beginning to lay groundwork for the strategic plan rewrite starting with revisiting the vision & vivid descriptions. Â This team will be working with the BOD and the Strategic Planning Committee to re-write the Strategic Long Range Plan. Some pre-work has been completed with the re-write of the Value Propositions and the Vivid Descriptions. If you are interested in participating, please contact Amy Jo Bowdidge.
Senator Training at Collegiate Leadership Forum (CLF)
The annual SWE Collegiate Leadership Forum took place this month in conjunction with the Board of Directors Installation in Edina, MN. The Collegiate Leadership Forum (CLF) is where Region Collegiate Representatives (RCR), Region Collegiate Communications Editors (RCCE), Collegiate Senators and SWE Future Leaders (SWEFL) come together to take part in activities including the BOD installation dinner, leadership training, SWE role training, professional development, and networking with other collegiate leaders, the Region Governors, and BOD members.  This is not only a great opportunity for collegians to connect with other SWE leaders across the globe, but also proves to be a great leadership pipeline for collegiate members in that it gives them a view into the society they don't often get to experience at a section level. CLF gives them useful tools to take back to their sections and regions and helps encourage collegiate members to be involved in SWE after they graduate.  For questions regarding CLF or if you would like to get involved in CLF, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please contact any of the Senate Leadership if you have questions.
