We were as surprised by Sir Tim Hunt’s comments on female scientists as all the women rocking lab coats and safety glasses (take a look at some of the responses on Twitter by searching #distractinglysexy).
Many women pursuing careers in STEM are faced with an unconscious bias that creates a resistance to achieving their full potential. Engineering and technology professions are a positive force for promoting creativity, implementing strategy and improving quality of life, and women are a vital part of that movement. After all, support for women in engineering and technology fields can be an incredible catalyst for change.
As the world’s largest advocate for women in engineering and technology, we tip our hard hats to you ladies out there killing it in safety glasses, and encourage you to share how you are being #distractinglybrilliant @SWEtalk, #WomenInStem!
