society of women engineers, space camp hall of fame

Space Camp, we’ve all heard of it. It’s one of the coolest versions of summer camp to kids and one of the nations most renowned programs “to inspire and motivate young people from around the country to join the ranks of space pioneers who persevere to push the boundaries of human exploration.” Source:

During childhood, one of SWE’s own and past FY15 President, Elizabeth Bierman, attended Space Camp as a budding female engineer. And just recently, per a nomination from FY17 President Elect, Jessica Rannow and past FY14 SWE President, Stacey DelVecchio, was just inducted into Space Camp USA’s Hall Of Fame class of 2015.

“The Space Camp Hall of Fame was established to honor the outstanding members of the Space Camp family, including graduates and former employees who have distinguished themselves in their respective careers or friends who have made considerable contributions or personal time, effort or resources to further the goals of the Space Camp programs.” Source:

Quite the honor for Elizabeth! Congratulations.

The ceremonious event took place last weekend, July 25-26, 2015. Where Elizabeth, her family, SWE CEO Karen Horting, along with Stacey DelVecchio, Jessica Rannow and hosting section SWE North Alabama were all in attendance to support Elizabeth as she accepted the award and made a very touching speech. All was official once Space Camp gifted Elizabeth with their legitimate HOF Letterman’s Jacket.
