Joining me now is a recipient of SWE’s Global Leadership Award: Karen Ramsey-Idem. She is the Director of Global Technical Resource Planning and Management at Cummins. Previously, she worked at Dow Chemical and NASA. She has a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.

Karen, you have been at Cummins for 20 years. Tell us about your background and career.
When did you join SWE?
You were recently named a recipient of SWE’s Global Leadership Award. Tell us more about your international experience, and why Cummins India has been able to attain an engineering workforce with 30 percent women?
Cummins is one of the founding members of SWE’s STEM Re-entry Task Force. Has that program been successful?
You have three adult children. In fact, your daughter is studying mechanical engineering and presented at SWE’s Annual Conference, WE17, in Austin, Texas. Are your other two children in STEM careers?
