Be Part of WE18, SWE’s Annual Conference

Apply for the WE18 SWENext AwardsIn October, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will be hosting our annual conference in Minneapolis, MN, and we want our top SWENexters to be there! Applications are now open for our WE18 SWENext Awards.

  • Rising junior and senior high school SWENexters (juniors and seniors in high school as of October 2018) are invited to apply for our SWENext Global Innovator Award.  This award includes travel assistance. Applicants do not need to live in Minneapolis to be eligible. See details below.
  • Rising freshman and sophomore SWENexters (freshmen and sophomores in high school as of October 2018) are invited to apply for our SWENext Northrop Grumman High School Community Award. This award does not include travel assistance. Applicants do not need to live in Minneapolis to be eligible. See details below.

There's no cost to apply, but you must be a SWENext member. Click here to sign up, it's free! Applications for both awards will be open until July 31, 2018.

All middle school and high school SWENexters are invited to attend  Invent It. Build It., the hands-on engineering event held this year on October 20th, 2018 at WE18 in Minneapolis. Register today! 

SWENext Global Innovator Award

The SWENext Global Innovator Award recognizes the outstanding young women shaping the future of SWE. Award recipients exemplify intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, and leadership in the STEM community. These students demonstrate a commitment to bettering the lives of women in STEM, they volunteer in outreach initiatives, and they are pursuing a career in engineering.

SWENext Global Innovator Award Recipients receive the following:

  1. All-expenses paid trip to WE18, SWE’s global conference in Minneapolis, MN in October 2018 for the recipient and one adult chaperone.
  2. Recognition for their accomplishments during the SWE Awards Banquet.
  3. Participation in the SWENext High School Leadership Academy.
  4. Participation in the Invent it. Build it. event as an engineer's assistant.
  5. A 3D printed trophy and certificate of achievement.
  6. SWE Commemorative Shirts: “Watch Me Change the World” and other goodies.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be a junior or senior in high school (grades 11th - 12th) as of October 2018.

SWENext Northrop Grumman High School Community Award

The SWENext Northrop Grumman High School Community Award encourages students to use STEM to solve real-world problems. This award emphasizes the impact SWENexters can have in their communities through creative engineering. The problems are chosen by SWE members and represent ongoing and future concerns in the student's community.

SWENext Northrop Grumman High School Community Award Recipients receive the following:

  1. Registration to WE18, SWE’s global conference in Minneapolis, MN in October 2018 for the recipient and one adult chaperone.
  2. Participation in the SWENext High School Leadership Academy.
  3. Participation in the Invent it. Build it. event as an Engineer's Assistant.
  4. Participation in Community Award poster presentations during the STEM EXPO where they will present their poster to middle school girls, parents, educators, and professional engineers.
  5. A 3D printed trophy and certificate of achievement.
  6. SWE Commemorative Shirts: “Watch Me Change the World” and other goodies.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be a freshman or sophomore in high school (grades 9th - 10th) as of October 2018.
