Do you have a girl who is interested in learning more about STEM? During WE18, the largest conference and career fair for women in engineering and technology, the Society of Women Engineers is hosting Invent It. Build It. This is a one-day event where girls are able to meet with women engineers, participate in hands-on engineering activities and learn how they can pursue a future in engineering! Parents and teachers are also welcome.
All attendees will spend the morning at the STEM EXPO, where they can learn about local engineering clubs, engineering camps, competitions, after-school programs, scholarships and more! In the afternoon they will divide up into three groups; the Middle School Girls Program, the Parent/Educator Program, and the High School Girls Program. Each program is designed to engage the audience in STEM activities and provide them with resources for girls who want to pursue a path in engineering and technology.
Events like this are crucial to break the gender stereotype of what an engineer is and to encourage more young women to pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering and math. You can be a part of that by signing up!
