With the era of BIG tech alive and growing, India’s WE Local Pune was a conference focused on “shaping opinions, gender bias discussions, and introducing you to the next generation of female leaders.” This Society of Women Engineers conference brought together women who are joining forces and using their voices to enact meaningful change.
This event is among the largest gathering of women engineers in India. The event is known for bringing together high-performing driven individuals and impressive speakers whose success stories have inspired women to break the glass ceiling and unconscious bias. In addition to inspirational addresses and discussions, college students had a chance to network and learn from leaders about what it takes to grow as successful career women.
This 3-day conference was held at the Hyatt Regency, Pune from March 21 to March 23, 2018 and was jam-packed with talks from women engineers including Monali Bhalerao (Manager, Eaton India Innovation Centre Pune), Neelu Khatri (President, Honeywell Aerospace India), Madhujit Singh (CEO and Founder of Ananya) and Jonna Gerken (FY 2018 SWE President). Monali Bhalerao and Neelu Khatri tell their story of achieving success in a male chauvinist society. Speaker Farina Kidwai talked about the “Trouble Tree”, an inspirational story about how to get rid of daily stress and maintain a healthy work/life balance.
