We understand not everyone is able to make it to SWE’s Annual Conference each year, so we do our best to share some of the learnings and resources after the event. 2019’s Thursday Morning, Friday Morning, and ‘Celebrate SWE!‘ keynote speakers entertained and inspired attendees. Now it’s time to share their messages with the world!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a young engineer dreamed of creating magic at Disney. Over time, she lived, she learned and now she leads engineering at the $20B Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment. Like all epic adventures, there were successes and failures, triumph and tragedy along the way. Rachel Hutter, Senior Vice President for International Facilities Operations Services and Worldwide Safety, Health and Engineering at Disney will share her journey – with a special twist. In celebration of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park lands opening at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, Rachel will share inspiration from the women of Star Wars and how we can apply their learnings in our engineering leadership roles.

In the last few years, the role confidence plays in one’s career journey has become somewhat of a focal point. But it’s evident that the very definition of confidence, and, how it is processed, projected and perceived by the two genders is different. Jayshree Seth has been breaking boundaries, personally and professionally, all through her life. She will share how with age and experience she has discovered her own virtuous cycle—action, success, confidence! She will encourage the audience to find the virtuous cycle that allows them to stay authentic to their own brand of confidence, and, have satisfying STEM-based careers.
