HP teamThis summer, HP will be onboarding over 200 interns in the U.S. on its first-ever fully virtual internship program. While these are unprecedented times, at HP we firmly believe that interns are the future of our company and foresee this as an opportunity to continue reinventing the way we work and the foundation of the workplaces of the future.

In just a few weeks and leveraging the existing remote working model, our University Hiring team worked closely with hiring managers to pivot this new format, while developing a carefully crafted program that provides interns with a platform to do meaningful work and ensure maximum engagement.

Through the program, interns will get the opportunity to grow their skills with numerous resources for networking and career development, while working in substantial projects that will make a difference and leave a lasting impact long after their experience. The program is also designed to provide interns with the opportunity to connect with brilliant people who can help them perform better, and great visibility of our interns to the entire organization, enabling them to hear from and ask questions to HP’s top executives, including Chief Human Resources Officer, Tracy Keogh, and President of Personal Systems, Alex Cho.

To prepare for this virtual overhaul, the team held numerous sessions to coach managers and give them resources to lead interns in the context of a global pandemic, and will continue to deliver guidance for both interns and managers throughout the summer.

Communication has been the key to developing HP’s strategy. Maintaining open lines of communication between HP’s leadership with both interns and hiring managers, and with the full support and participation of the executive leadership team, this summer is going to be an exciting time to be an intern at HP.
