“WE Local Des Moines Collegiate Competition Carries On” is written by Devyn Yates, WE Local Collegiate Competition Member.

Following in the footsteps of WE Local Buffalo, WE Local Des Moines hosted its own virtual collegiate competition on Saturday, April 14th. Our finalists and judges took to their computers to join in for a live web meeting to hear everyone’s presentations. While it was not what our finalists or judges originally anticipated, it still was a great experience for everyone involved!

With WE Local Des Moines being the last scheduled 2020 WE Local, we now are working towards planning our 2021 WE Local conferences!

We are pleased to announce the following collegiate competition award recipients for WE Local Des Moines:

Undergraduate category
Graduate category
  • First place: Courtney Keiser, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
  • Second place: Riannon Smith, University of Iowa
  • Third place: Pratyasha Mohapatra, Iowa State University

Congratulations to all the finalists!

Much appreciation and thanks go to the entire WE Local Advisory Board and the Collegiate Competition Subcommittee for coming up with the quick and creative solution to host the competitions virtually. Thanks to Jonna Gerken, Laura Kimbel, and Mackenzie Morgan for all their planning and assistance with hosting the competition. Additional thanks to the finalists and judges who were willing to adapt and try out our first virtual collegiate competition.

That’s a Wrap!

With WE Local Des Moines being the last scheduled 2020 WE Local conference, we now are working towards planning our 2021 WE Local conferences! More details to come in August 2020.
