When Elizabeth Loboa graduated from high school, she wasn’t really sure what she was going to do or even what she wanted to study. She was also already living independently and waitressing full-time and didn’t have the income to go straight to a four-year university, so she began her studies by taking classes from her local community college during lunch breaks and evenings.
Dean Loboa now holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of California, Davis and an MSE in biomechanical engineering and PhD in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, and she now works as the first female dean of the University of Missouri’s College of Engineering. So what inspired her to focus her career on academia?
