Sophie Mei Poole: EngineerGirl Ambassador 2019-2020
Sophie Mei Poole was selected to be an EngineerGirl Ambassador for the Engineer Girl organization (affiliated with the National Academy of Engineering and the Society of Women Engineers). She attended SWE conference, received training from Techbridge Girls and mentorship from female engineers. Sophie also designed and implemented an intensive STEM Outreach program for girls experiencing poverty and homelessness. Check out some of her work!

Giant Sea Bass Video, UCSB Love Lab
Participated as a “citizen scientist” for this “Spotting Giant Sea Bass” study out of UCSB tracking endangered sea bass via computer technology that recognizes spot patterns.

Interviewed Dr. Klawe and discussed the power of female leadership and the challenge of gender parity in STEM.
Dr. Cristina Zavaleta, Viterbi School of Engineering USC
Professor Z is a bioengineer using nanotechnology to locate and target cancer cells. In depth look at how her lab is run and interview.
Amazing Women in STEM
Interviewed women on the cutting edge of STEM including a Caltech graduate student in material sciences, a data science entrepreneur at IdeaLab and a systems engineer at Heliogen.
