On this episode of Diverse, a SWE Podcast, host Sam East is joined by Wan Leng Lim, a Senior Manager at Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) Greater Asia R&D. They sit down to discuss her draw to STEM, her educational journey, and her work with coaching and mentoring young women.

Wan Leng is a Senior Manager in BD Greater Asia R&D, responsible for Portfolio and Program/Project Management function across the design centers in Singapore and China. She began her career in BD as a Mechanical Design Engineer and then progressively advanced her career through various senior positions and successfully supporting and leading several new product development programs through commercial launch for different business units. ​

Prior to her current role, Wan Leng was the Program Manager for an innovative instrument addressing societal needs in prolonged second stage of labor. Her outstanding performance earned her “BD Greater Asia R&D Individual Excellence Award” in 2014. She has a strong interest in nurturing future women engineers for the medical device industry. This drives her to assume leadership role in WIN+STEM in BD Singapore and as an Ex-Co member of SWE@SG. She enjoys interacting, coaching and encouraging young women to pursue careers in STEM industries. She was presented as BD “Women Heroes of 2016” for Paving the Way and her dedication to this cause.​

Wan Leng comes from a family of strong advocates on gender equality; where female siblings are engineers & male sibling is an accountant by profession. ​
