The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is excited to announce that the upcoming 2025 WE Local conferences in Milwaukee, Wisc.; Cherry Hill, N.J.; and San Jose, Calif., will all feature hands-on workshops.

This type of breakout session first debuted at the 2023 WE Local in Hartford, Conn., as an engine tinkering event spearheaded by 2023 SWE Distinguished New Engineer award winner Cary Kaczowka. The session taught attendees all about the ins and outs of engines and served as a new dynamic hands-on experience for many.

Check out the video below to learn all about the engines workshop.

Since WE Local Baltimore earlier this year, SWE’s Local Advisory Board (LAB) has been exploring the potential of future workshops. The goal is to teach our attendees new skills they might have otherwise thought challenging. Ideas from programming a Raspberry Pi to home improvement have been discussed, but we want to hear from YOU.

Do you or your company have an idea for an exciting and engaging workshop? We encourage you to submit your idea online via the WE Locals breakout session call for proposal form below. Submissions are due Sept. 30, so get going. Let’s lower barriers and demolish imposter syndrome together!

We envision these workshops garnering high attendance with multiple session blocks at a single conference. Need help with an idea? Reach out to LAB and talk with a SWE expert at cfp@swe.org.
