As part of the Military and Veterans Affinity Group’s spotlight month, we would like to introduce you to one of the AG co-leads.
Meet Lisa Malmanger (she/her)! She is an Army veteran currently working as a senior solution architect at Booz Allen Hamilton, specializing in Salesforce solutions for large-scale enterprises. Lisa has many things she stands for — her Vietnamese and Norwegian heritage, being a first-generation college graduate in software engineering, and her involvement in the community. She volunteers with veteran organizations, including Booz Allen’s Armed Service Community, while raising a now college-aged daughter and three dogs. But she also knows how to take a break from all the hard work, enjoying live music and gaming in her spare time!
When speaking of her military experience, Lisa recollects how it has taught her to work in diverse and demanding work situations. “The leadership and teamwork skills I developed have been crucial in collaborating with and leading various teams. Adapting and solving problems has been essential for troubleshooting technical issues and implementing innovative solutions. Additionally, working with complex projects under tight deadlines in the military has equipped me with project management skills, including planning, execution, and risk management,” she says. “Effective communication, a critical skill in military and civilian careers, has enabled me to interact effectively with diverse teams, ensuring successful project outcomes.”
All of this helped inform her role as one of the co-chairs of the Merivis Military Summit. The event aims to support the military community by providing insights, guidance, and actionable takeaways. Sessions are designed to be engaging and practical, with panel presentations, demos, and sessions that offer real-world applications. Lisa said, “Being part of Merivis has allowed me to contribute to a cause I deeply care about. I am proud to support others in their STEM careers through this incredible organization.”
With all of her accomplishments, which is she proudest of? Lisa says, “Earning my degree with summa cum laude honors in software engineering while also raising my daughter. Balancing my studies and parenting was challenging, but incredibly rewarding. I’m also very proud of my daughter, who is now in college pursuing a degree in game development.” We are so proud of her hard work in all areas of her life and that she is one of our MAVAG leaders.
