Inside the 2025 SWE Korea Conference: Celebrating Connection, Engineering, and Growth

On Oct. 19, GM Korea, in partnership with leading companies including HP, proudly hosted the 2025 Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Korea conference, under the inspiring theme “The Power of Connection: We Engineer.” This flagship event, organized by SWE Korea, brought together over 150 engineers from various industries to foster collaboration, share experiences, and empower women in technology.

The conference opened at GM Bupyeong Plant with a keynote address by a distinguished female engineer and leader in the global AI research field. She shared a journey from materials science to advanced AI applications, highlighting international collaboration experiences and practical insights from the front lines of engineering innovation. This set the tone for a day of learning, inspiration, and meaningful connection.

Attendees engaged in cross-generational panel discussions on AI experiences, participated in sessions highlighting real-world global collaboration case studies, and took part in networking activities designed to strengthen professional relationships and peer support. Through these interactions, participants not only gained technical insights, but also reflected on leadership, career development, and the power of community in advancing women engineers’ roles in the industry.

The conference emphasized the transformative impact of such gatherings, demonstrating how women engineers from diverse backgrounds can come together, exchange ideas, and inspire one another. By fostering these connections, SWE Korea aims to continue nurturing the next generation of women leaders in technology.

The 2025 SWE Korea conference featured a thoughtfully designed program, including an opening ceremony, awards presentation, keynote speech, panel discussions, global collaboration showcases, and dynamic networking sessions. The combination of knowledge sharing, practical insights, and peer connection underscored the central theme: that building networks and supporting each other is key to growth and success in engineering.

Founded in 1950 in the United States, SWE is a global organization representing over 50,000 women engineers and allies worldwide. Through education, mentorship, and advocacy, SWE develops women leaders in engineering across all industries. GM Korea became a SWE member in 2020, the first automotive company in Korea to join, and continues to actively support the professional growth of its engineers through this partnership.

The conference not only highlighted the achievements and potential of women engineers, but also reinforced the importance of connection, collaboration, and community. By cultivating these opportunities, SWE Korea and its partners are helping shape a more inclusive and innovative future for women in engineering, both in Korea and globally.
