As part of its efforts to create connections among engineers, thought leaders, industry partners, and employers globally, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) holds multiple WE Local conferences throughout the year, bringing together women engineers, students, and STEM professionals for a two-day event.
Each WE Local offers a career fair/networking exhibition, networking opportunities, professional development sessions, memorable speakers, and more.
From Dec. 4-5, more than 715 attendees gathered at the Hyatt Regency Pune & Residences for the 2025 WE Local Pune conference and career fair.
2025 WE Local Pune: By the Numbers
WE Local Pune had a vast reach with more than 24 states across India represented. The conference had a high proportion of midcareer and late-career professionals in attendance. The largest category of registrants had 16-20 years of experience (22.11%), with a slightly smaller percentage having 11-15 years of experience (21.38%).
When it comes to engineering disciplines, the highest field represented at WE Local Pune was electrical and electronics engineering (14.46%), followed by engineering (9.54%) and computer engineering (8.2%).
The two-day conference featured an inspiring opening keynote session by Vinita Gera, independent advisor, leadership coach, mentor, and a diversity, equity, and inclusion champion, who delved into the strengths that women leaders bring in the changing world of artificial intelligence (AI), the global gap of women researchers in AI, and how leadership and human aspects in the AI world are essential.
More than 39 education sessions were offered and 13 partnering organizations were present on-site engaging with attendees.
