This week’s SWE Section Spotlight is SWE Section: Southern Methodist University.

Here’s a run down of the section’s events for this 2015/16 school year … Kicking off the fall season at the Engineering Tent on Football Boulevard, SWE SMUsells t-shirts at each game to raise funds for the year. Then it’s for Sweets with SWE – SMU SWE’s first meeting of the year, “we will be have cupcakes from Sprinkles and giving out information about SWE and the upcoming year!” says a section rep.

On September 15th, SMU SWE hosts along with Girls Inc. Outreach:Volunteer at Girls Inc. … to encourage interest in STEM with an after school activity. Along with a similar event later in the year, on October 7th and early in 2016 on February 16th.

On November 14th, SMU SWE collaborates to host afun filled day engaging elementary girls in STEM activities at alocal DSID elementary school, “last year we had over 120 attendees!” says the section.

The individuals of this section celebrate National Engineers Week in February (Just like we all do! Especially here at HQ). Closing out the 2015/16 school year with 2 final Girls Inc. Outreach events on March 22nd and April 13th.

SWESMU is most proud to celebrate women inengineering this year. SMU has had over 30% women in engineering for the past 10 years!
