On 7th September, 2019, the Society of Women Engineers’ MIT World Peace University (WPU) Affiliate organized an event that completely focused on personal development of engineering undergraduates with the SWE Pune Affiliate.

The session started with an introduction to SWE given by Sayali Igave, an engineer at John Deere. Sayali also spoke about the initiatives taken by SWE, India to inspire as well as help numerous women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The session was then continued by Priyanka Kamrakar, Talent Acquisition Lead at Tomtom, who gave students some tips and tricks to master an interview. Students were made familiar with the right attitude for an interview and how one should react to the questions that are asked in interviews and what an interviewer expects from the candidate.

The next block of sessions was undertaken by Swathi Kesireddy, a member of the Talent Acquisition team at Tomtom. Here, students were listed with the latest in-demand technological skills prevalent in the industry.

After this interview skills and resume building session, a short break of refreshments was given.

Amita Golder, an engineer at John Deere, delivered a small session on 3-D printing and its applications.

After the 3-D printing session, Vidya Chavan, engineer at Black and Veatch, Spoke about electric and autonomous vehicles.

Students actively participated in the interaction with all the guests and cleared their queries.

At the end of the event, all the guests were felicitated in a traditional way of MIT WPU by Mrs. Dipali Bawaskar, Faculty Coordinator of SWE MIT WPU Affiliate.

Overall the workshops were filled with interactions from groups of industry professionals mentoring students on resume and profile building, a technical talk on 3-D printing and electric & autonomous vehicles, followed by an interesting Q&A session. Lots of networking and learning for all in attendance!
