Diversity at Work: SWE’s Joint Member Partners

How SWE’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging extends beyond the organization and across the globe.

Community and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) are at the heart of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

As a global organization, we recognize that the power of community extends outside of the organization and can be especially impactful for those within specific segments of the world’s population, including women engineers who identify as LGBTQ+, Black, Hispanic, Asian, and Indigenous peoples.

To that end, we partnered with several other key organizations in the engineering space to provide our FY24 members greater access to these communities by offering discounts on membership.*

These organizations, known as Joint Member Partners, deliver additional value for their respective groups, including supplemental support, expertise, and referrals. Tap into the following organizations who share SWE’s commitment to empowering all women in engineering:

American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)

AISES works to substantially increase the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in STEM studies and careers.

  • SWE members can access a 25% discount off a AISES professional memberships (Collegiate membership at AISES is free). Simply join online and use the code 2023-SWE when prompted.

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

NSBE focuses on growing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community by promoting the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology.

Out to Innovate

Out to Innovate empowers LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in STEM and all related fields by providing education, advocacy, scholarship, professional development, networking, outreach, and peer support.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Inc. (oSTEM)

oSTEM empowers LGBTQ+ people in STEM to succeed personally, academically, and professionally by cultivating environments and communities that nurture innovation, leadership, and advocacy.

Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE)

SASE works to advance Asian heritage engineers and scientists in education and employment so they can achieve their full career potential.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

SHPE focuses on the development of Hispanics in engineering, science, and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity, and social equity through initiatives in technical education, business and government policy, programs, and more.

These Joint Member Partners are in addition to SWE’s Affinity Group program, members-only online communities available for additional support and connection.
