With COVID precautions in place, a small but enthusiastic audience gathered in the outdoor courtyard at The Aerospace Corporation headquarters in El Segundo, CA for the installation of the FY22 SWE Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. It was a beautiful Southern California evening for the subdued festivities.
The installation kicked off with opening remarks from the Honorable Steven J. Isakowitz, President and CEO of the Aerospace Corporation. Mr. Isakowitz spoke about the importance of SWE’s work to diversify the field of engineering, and then shared some of FY22 President Rachel Morford’s contributions to the field, both in the company and the community.
Following recognition of FY21 President Heather Doty, the FY22 Board of Directors and Board of Trustees were installed. (link to video here) https://youtu.be/SeNLfXYs8wY
After the formal installation, Dr. David Miller, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at The Aerospace Corporation, shared some stories of his mother, a founding member of SWE. He and his mother, Phyllis “Sandy” Evans Miller, were highlighted in a feature story in the Winter 2021 issue of SWE Magazine. The evening concluded with remarks from Rachel Morford, FY22 SWE President. We know that she will “Aspire to Inspire” during her term.
Thank you to the Aerospace Corporation for their sponsorship of the evening.
