SWE’s India Corporate Council (ICC) was launched to disseminate industry trends, share best practices, and create new intervention strategies specifically for the advancement of women in the Indian engineering and technology communities. Now in its third year, the ICC has grown to include 23 organizations representing a diversity of industries and specializations. Through quarterly meetings the ICC has tackled a range of topics, including:

    • Hiring and onboarding in a virtual environment
    • Maintaining DEI priorities through the COVID crisis
    • Developing the pipeline of women in leadership
    • EQ in management

The ICC has also contributed to the growth of SWE programs in India through hosting industrial visits, providing feedback on the expansion of SWE’s academic scholarships in India, and guiding the development of an executive networking event. The ICC was influential in the success of SWE’s research on how COVID-19 impacted the college and career plans of Indian women in engineering and technology. Learn more about the results of that research here.

The ICC is led by Co-Chairs Shobha Pandey (Talent Management and D&I Lead, John Deere) and Rajani Boddu (Engineering Globalization Leader, Wabtec Corporation).

“The ICC provides an excellent platform for members to share their organization’s DEI practices and learn from each other to promote DEI culture with one’s organization. In addition, it is also a good platform for personal development as ICC members share their personal experiences around diversity and how they have grown and learnt from them.”  -Rajani Boddu, ICC Co-Chair

Organizations that participate in the ICC benefit from a variety of branding opportunities and access to recruitment tools. Furthermore, it is through the generous support of ICC members that dozens of students are provided complementary access to the WE Local conference in India each year. Thank you to all SWE ICC partners!
