Dr. Sanchez shares about how she started her STEM journey as an administrative assistant, what a typical day looks like for a product safety engineer, and her new book that celebrates women in engineering.

Speaker: Dr. Justina Sanchez

Cropped headshot of Dr. Justina SanchezJustina Sanchez (she/her) is a San Diego native, mom and wife. She has been in the Testing, Inspection & Certification industry for over 18 years.

In her role as a Product Safety Engineer, she did electrical safety evaluations of products before they went to market for consumers use. She now works as a Quality Engineer where she conducts internal audits in labs across North America in accordance with several different accreditation body requirements.

Justina is also a Technical Assessor for the IECEE (IEC Systems of Conformity Assessments Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) where she conducts external audits at various companies globally, ensuring competence and consistent operations at different organizations who are performing laboratory activities.

Most recently Justina published her first book “Extraordinary Engineers: Female Engineers of This Day and Time” to inspire other women to pursue a career in engineering and document the amazing women who are changing the world around us.

Her passion for advancing women in STEM has been seen and felt by many as she mentors our next generation of engineers, and she is a speaker, presenter, and supporter for many organizations throughout the world.

Lennis Perez (she/her) is the Chief Wellness Engineer at Just Lennis, LLC. She has a master’s degree in chemical engineering and is a certified meditation teacher.

She’s also passionate about highlighting the incredible Latino/a talent in STEM and beyond. This is her second year serving as the SWE Latinos Affinity Group Hispanic Heritage Month Lead.
