SWE Section Spotlight: Philadelphia

This week’s SWE Section Spotlight is Philadelphia SWE … also known as: our hosts for WE16. Quite timely of a feature, don’t you think? “We are excited about WE16 in Philadelphia! We are also working to have our first engineering awards recognized by our section, we hope to award a Distinguished New Engineer and Engineer of the Year this year.” says section rep, Amanda Weissman.

Here’s what’s going on in Philadelphia this year …

  1. SWE/NSBE Technical Lightning Talks & Networking Dinner
  2. Dec 10, 6pm, Urban Engineers, Inc, Philadelphia, PA

Join the Philadelphia professional sections of SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) for a networking dinner and series of “lightning style” technical talks given by our 3 of our members. These talks are linked by the engineering that our members do on the job every day in and around the Philadelphia area.

  3. Holiday Networking Dinner – January 2016 at the JNA Institute of Culinary Arts in Philadelphia, PA

We will be having a networking dinner including a holiday cooking class and demonstration.

  4. Mid-year Officer Planning – January 2016, location TBD

Mid-year check in on our current goals and plan further details for the second half of the year.

  5. Engineering Mini Camp

    Feb 6, 9am, Widener University

Purpose: to bring girls who might be interested in engineering together with women engineers and women engineering students; to learn about engineering careers by doing activities related to the kinds of work engineers do. Go here for more information and to register.
