This year’s California Central Coast VEX Competition was nothing short of robo-tastic!
Hosted by the Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Section in partnership with San Luis Obispo High School, the event took place on Jan. 25, 2025, at Cal Poly’s ATL, Bonderson, and Engineering Plazas.
More than 250 high school students, 49 teams, and 78 volunteers came together to participate in this year’s intense “High Stakes” challenge. The competition was fierce, with teams battling it out in head-to-head matches, testing their skills in robotics design, coding, and strategy.
In the end, 12 awards were given out, with standout performances from 920B (SLO-Botics), who took home the Excellence Award, and 11475B (Liberty Patriots) and 7983S (Centennial CyberHawks), who both secured the Tournament Champions titles!
The SWE Award went to 93455A, a team that impressed judges with their innovative engineering design and impressive outreach efforts, connecting with Hispanic communities in a way that aligned perfectly with Cal Poly SWE’s mission.
It wasn’t just about the robots — this event also served as a platform for students to explore STEM fields, with participants demonstrating the power of teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. A huge thank you to all the students, volunteers, and SWE members who made this year’s VEX competition so successful!
