On Feb. 24, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Queretaro City Affiliate, in collaboration with GE Aerospace, hosted an inspiring event aimed at fostering interest in STEM among young girls. The event welcomed 40 girls aged 13 to 15 to the GEIQ Campus facilities, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the world of engineering and gain insights into the exciting possibilities that a career in STEM can offer.
The primary objective of the event was to encourage these young minds to consider STEM fields as viable career paths. By offering them a firsthand experience of what it means to be an engineer, we aimed to ignite their passion for science and technology and empower them to pursue their dreams with confidence.
The highlight of the day was an enchanting talk delivered by our special guest speaker, Myriam Cosio, chief external affairs officer of Clip. Myriam shared her personal journey and the challenges she overcame to achieve success in her field. Her story resonated deeply with the audience. She emphasized the importance of education and the power of perseverance in making dreams come true.
Myriam also stressed the significance of building a solid plan to achieve one’s goals. She encouraged the girls to set clear objectives, work diligently towards them, and never lose sight of their aspirations. Her words were not only motivational, but also practical, providing the girls with actionable steps to take control of their futures.

The event also included a tour of the GEIQ Campus facilities, including the Materials, Failure Analysis, and Vibrations Analysis Laboratories. Throughout the day, the girls participated in interactive activities designed to spark their curiosity about the engineering world. A dedicated team of more than 20 GE volunteers, in collaboration with SWE and the Women’s Network (WN), planned and supported the event, emphasizing their staunch commitment to promoting education and innovation in the STEM field.
This event was a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact that organizations like SWE and GE Aerospace can have on the next generation. By providing these young girls with role models, hands-on experiences, and practical advice, we hope to inspire them to pursue their passions in STEM and become the innovators of tomorrow.
