Every year, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) holds multiple WE Local conferences globally to create connections among engineers, thought leaders, industry partners, and employers. This year, five WE Local conferences were organized.
From April 24-25, more than 530 attendees gathered at Clarion Congress Hotel to participate in WE Local Prague.
Each WE Local offers multiple avenues for attendee interaction, including a career fair, networking opportunities, professional development sessions, memorable speakers, and a collegiate poster competition. Check out the winners of the 2025 WE Local Collegiate Competitions in this blog post.
Unique to this year’s conferences were a panel discussion focused on the theme of Together We Rise and the SWE 75th anniversary traveling exhibit spotlighting the Society’s legacy of inspiring and empowering women engineers globally.
2025 WE Local Prague: By the Numbers
While most attendees came from Czechia, WE Local Prague had representation from more than 31 states and provinces, as well as a strong global presence with attendees from Egypt, Nigeria, Ireland, Italy, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S.
The largest proportion of Prague registrants had 1-5 years of experience (22.7%), with a slightly smaller percentage having 6-10 years of experience (18.4%). Attendees with 11-15 years of experience represented 16.4% of the participants.
The event served individuals across a variety of engineering disciplines, with the largest number of attendees in mechanical engineering (23.7%), followed by other non-technical disciplines (23.2%) and telecommunications (18.9%).
The top-represented professional levels at WE Local Prague were technical specialists (17.9%), individual contributors (15.7%), and senior technical specialists (12%).

Ann-Kristin de Verdier, executive managing director – DBU Europe at Cummins Inc., delivered the opening keynote, highlighting how leadership and resilience are crucial to advancing women in STEM.
Alessandra Faria, Strategic Partners – International, Motorola Solutions, presented the closing keynote, sharing from her journey as a renowned electronic engineer with more than 35 years of expertise in telecommunications, information technology, and electronic security.
WE Local Prague had participation from 20 partner organizations and featured several breakout talks. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet top engineering and technology organizations at the conference’s networking event. Explore more than 1,300 photos from WE Local Prague in our Flickr album.
