The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is excited to announce that the upcoming North American 2026 WE Local conferences in Austin, Texas;, Portland, Ore.; and Columbus, Ohio, will all feature hands-on technical workshops, in addition to listen & learn lectures, engagement exchange panels, and snap sessions.
The 2026 WE Local Call for Proposals is currently open, so please apply before the deadline on Sept. 8, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CT. You can find detailed information and the submission portal online.
Debuting at the 2023 WE Local in Hartford, Conn., the hands-on technical workshops aim to teach you new skills you might have otherwise thought challenging.
Popular hands-on technical workshops have included programming a Raspberry Pi, taking things apart, using tools for home improvement, and making glass — but we want to hear more fresh ideas from you!
Do you or your company have an idea for an exciting and engaging hands-on technical workshop? Please submit your session as a technical workshop in the Call for Proposals. Let’s lower barriers and demolish imposter syndrome together!
Interested in the hands-on technical workshops? Check out this video to learn more about their intent.
Need help with an idea? Reach out to the WE Local programs team and talk with a SWE expert at cfp@swe.org.
