I’m thrilled to share a milestone in my professional journey — being appointed as a member of the SWE Pune Advisory Board this past April! This moment is not just a personal achievement, but a reflection of a decade-long journey with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) that has been both empowering and transformative.
The Beginning: Volunteering With Purpose
My SWE story began in 2015 as a volunteer, driven by a passion to support and uplift women in engineering. From 2015 to 2018, I actively contributed to various initiatives, learning the ropes and connecting with a vibrant community of like-minded professionals.
Building the Core
In 2019, I became a core member of the SWE Pune Affiliate, and by 2020, I took on the role of outreach lead. These roles allowed me to lead impactful programs, mentor aspiring engineers, and collaborate with industry leaders to promote STEM education and career development.
Expanding Horizons
My involvement grew beyond Pune:
- SWE Global Ambassador (2022 – Present): Representing SWE on a global platform has been an enriching experience, offering opportunities to connect across cultures and geographies.
- SWE India Career Council (2023 – Present): Collaborating with leaders across India to shape strategic initiatives for career growth and inclusion.
Leading With Impact
Some of the key events I’ve had the honor to lead include:
- WOW That’s Engineering (Oct. 2023): An initiative close to my heart — this event, sponsored by Air Products Pune, introduced 50 underprivileged schoolgirls to the wonders of STEM through hands-on activities and mentorship. It was a powerful reminder of how early exposure can shape futures.
- Campus to Corporate (Jan. 2025): Held at VIIT College Pune, this outreach event brought together industry experts, panel discussions, fireside chats, and speed mentoring sessions. It was a dynamic platform to bridge the gap between academia and industry for aspiring engineers.
Celebrating Achievements
Each step in this journey has been filled with learning, leadership, and lasting connections. From organizing events to mentoring students and representing SWE globally, every experience has contributed to my growth, and I’m deeply grateful for the support of the SWE community and my colleagues at Air Products.
