I’m in my 4th year of competing and training for triathlons – It really is like a giant problem you have to constantly solve. How is the weather going to affect your balance on the bike, if there are waves in the lake, how do I correct my position to swim the direction I want to go with the shortest distance. And nutrition is a constant puzzle; how do you consume enough calories, salt and complex carbohydrates on a three-hour bike ride to keep your energy up without causing gastrointestinal distress. On top of my 40 hour a week engineering job, I spend 8-12 hours a week engineering my triathlon skills.
