A smart funding plan is essential to helping your section realize its goals. This course is recommended for SWE section leaders at any stage of their career to help you evaluate your current funding efforts and identify areas for improvement.

You can access the Fund Development and Your SWE Section course in the Advance Learning Center to learn the steps in the Fund Development Cycle and develop a plan to help your section secure funding. Funding helps your section recruit new members, host K-12 outreach or professional development events, fund scholarships, and more.

Fund Development Cycle

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Examine the state of your section’s fund development through self-reflection questions and budget analysis.
  • Describe each step of the Fund Development Cycle, and identify resources to help your section complete each step

This course is free for SWE members, and you can access it on SWE’s Advance Learning Center with your SWE username and password. The course also offers downloadable resources for your use, including a Fund-Development Assessment, Budget Analysis Template, Guide to Corporate Fundraising, and Prospect Database Template.

Once you take the course, reach out to your assigned SWE Leadership Coach for further support. Leadership Coaches can help you create a funding plan, develop a strong case statement, and overcome challenges in the Fund Development Cycle.
