SWE Sections: Unclaimed Money

I learned something new at the WE21 Society Conference. Many SWE sections have unclaimed money in their state.

The state is responsible for holding money that was owed to an individual, business, or organization. Most have a searchable list of the money the state holds. Letting section money sit with the state is not good practice. I know, stating the obvious is my talent.

Sections should take a minute to look at the unclaimed money list for your state. Enter “women engineers” in the search bar and see what you find. If you hit the jackpot and see monies tied to the section’s address, follow the online process to claim the funds. You may be surprised at what you find. We did it and there are multiple sections with money out there. Start with the hotlink, here. Good luck searching for your unclaimed property.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Finance Committee is a standing committee dedicated to fiscal interests within SWE. If SWE finance questions arise, please email the SWE Finance Committee at financecommittee@swe.org or visit us during our office hours. Office hours are generally held every month and at Annual Conference. The Executive Council does not have to go it alone with our SWE annual fiscal process.
