SWE Endowed Scholarships: Arminta Harness Memorial Scholarship

In our SWE Endowed Scholarships series, we’ll feature one endowed scholarship each month. These blog posts will highlight the scholarship’s namesake, the amount awarded, and any relevant criteria for application. This month, we feature the Arminta Harness Memorial Scholarship.

The Los Angeles Professional Section (SWE-LA) is working hard to endow a scholarship to honor Arminta Harness. Arminta was the first woman engineer in the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1974. Arminta served as SWE Society President from 1976 through 1978, received SWE Fellow grade in 1980, and was awarded the SWE Distinguished Service Award in 2000.
