The roaring (20)20s are upon us!  The San Diego Local Host Committee (LHC) invites you to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment and of Women’s Suffrage.  We will be welcoming attendees under the 1920s theme: We’ve Come A Long Way, SWEetheart!

But first…

A few fun facts about San Diego:

San Diego by the numbers:

  • 267 sunny days and an average high of 66℉ in January
  • 70 miles of coastline & 33 beautiful beaches
  • 1.3 million residents: the second largest city in California & eighth largest in the U.S.
  • 100 diverse neighborhoods

The Star of India, built in 1863, docks at the Maritime Museum a short 1.5 miles from the convention center.  It is the world’s oldest active sailing ship!

The Hotel Del Coronado, with its iconic wooden structure, was built in 1888 and can be found a short ferry ride across the convention center on Coronado Island.  The “Del” unveiled the world’s first electrically-lighted outdoor Christmas tree in 1904!

If you are flying in for the conference, you will likely be landing at the San Diego International Airport formerly known as Lindbergh Field.  Did you know that the Spirit of St. Louis monoplane was designed and built in San Diego?  Charles Lindbergh completed the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris aboard the Spirit in 1927.

This is just a small sampling of what you’ll find when visiting downtown San Diego!  While we are very excited about the venue, there is so much more to look forward to during the conference.

For instance, did you know that we have a roaring WE Local Celebration planned on Friday evening?
