Where are you from/where were you raised?
I was born and raised in Aurora, IL.
What was the inspiration that made you get into your field?
I loved helping others learn and working with technology, and I wanted to combine the two which led me to instructional design.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing is that I get to spend every day developing programs that help others learn while working with a team of warm, welcoming people. SWE offers such a great environment to work in, and I’m thrilled to be here.
Who is your role model and why?
Dr. Mabrito, my former professor at Purdue University Northwest, who teaches courses on writing for technology and business. Dr. Mabrito taught me how to leverage my writing abilities as well as new technologies to communicate across various settings in the modern world. Without Dr. Mabrito, I would not have developed the skills that allowed me to earn this position at SWE.
What is your favorite sports team?
I don’t really have a favorite sports team because I don’t watch sports, but if I have to pick it would be the Cubs. I also enjoy watching the Chicago Blackhawks if a game happens to be on.
What is your favorite place in the world?
Caceres, Spain – I studied abroad there in college, and it was the most peaceful, laid-back place I have ever visited.
Do you have any interesting or little-known facts about yourself?
I was the national champion at an amateur Judo tournament when I was 14, and I competed in the adult women’s section because there were no girls my age, and I had a higher belt rank than the girls who were a couple of years younger.
What movie or TV quote are you most likely to use in conversation?
”I have spoken,” from the Mandalorian.
