One of the most frequently asked questions by High School SWENexters is how to select the best college. The purpose of the SWENext Collegiate Video Competition is to begin recruiting SWENexters by sharing a personal view of your university.

All collegiate sections are encouraged to create a three-minute video about what makes your college/university and SWE section great, along with information about your engineering department. This year, we would also like you to highlight your efforts pertaining to diversity and inclusion.

All submissions are uploaded to a playlist on SWENext’s YouTube channel. SWENexters can use the playlist to research prospective colleges before applying. Please see last year’s winners’ announcement for more information.

The top three winning sections chosen by the SWENext Programs Comittee and SWNexter judges will receive an outreach stipend for their future outreach efforts. First place receives $500, second place receives $300, and third place receives $200.

Visit here to learn more about this competition and how to apply. The deadline is March 6th, 2022 at 11:59 PM CST (Midnight).

If you have any questions, please contact us at swenext@swe.org.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: If I won a prize in this competition last year, can I reapply?
A: If you placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd last year and have an updated video that you wish to submit, we encourage you to submit your video for us to include in the playlist on the SWENext YouTube Channel. However, in an effort to be fair to all contestants, we can’t provide you with the outreach stipend this year.

Q: If I won a prize in this competition two years ago, can I reapply?
A: Yes! Please submit an updated video and your SWE section will be eligible for the stipends.

Q: Can we hire a professional to help with the video we submit?
A: You are free to use whatever resources you have at hand to create your video submission. Just keep in mind that using a professional videographer to make the video does not necessarily improve your chances of winning the competition!
