Swe Staff Spotlight: Dolores Mannella
Dolores Mannella
Dolores Mannella has just graduated from Kendall College with a degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions. Dolores has been working at the Society of Women Engineers since May 2017 as an Events Coordinator Intern. She will now be joining SWE as Global Programs Coordinator and Executive Assisatant to the CEO, Karen Horting. Dolores’ analytical, yet practical thinking has made her a great asset to the SWE team.

Where do you live…did you grow up in the Chicagoland area?
Yes, I grew up in the Southwestern suburbs of Chicago. I have lived in the same quiet town all my life, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love the outdoors, so I am lucky to live in a place that is surrounded by forestry.

What is your favorite hobby/hobbies?
I really enjoy making stained glass sculptures.  Being able to revive this seemingly lost art form brings me joy, and I love sharing that with those around me.

Do you have any interesting or little-known facts about yourself?
I have a twin sister who looks nothing like me!

Favorite band or type of music?
Frank Sinatra, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Hall & Oats, Neil Diamond – the classics really.

Favorite TV show?
I really love anything related to real estate, specifically involving tree houses and properties on the water. I just finished watching, “The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes” which  showcases homes from around the world and the landscapes in which they were built.

Cubs or Sox?
CUBS!!!

If you could sum up SWE in one word, what would it be?
Inclusive

What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite part of my job is working with women from across the globe and seeing how SWE impacts their lives.

Where can we find you on the weekends?
Typically, outside in the garden until it turns cold!
