Trenyce McCoy is a part of the Conference and Events Department with the Society of Women Engineers. Prior to joining SWE, she relocated from Miami where she worked for the Orange Bowl Committee and the Mourning Family Foundation where she was able to combine her love of sports and creating memorable experiences. Trenyce is a graduate of Florida A&M University where she received her B.S. in Business Administration.
Who is your role model and why?
My parents are my role models! I was fortunate enough to be raised by two hard-working, loving parents who taught me the importance of family, commitment and being true to yourself. They also were great examples of what work-life balance looked like and showed me how to be of service to others.
Where are you from/where were you raised?
I was born and raised in the county of Dade. That’s Miami-Dade to be exact (Miami, FL).
What is your favorite sports team?
I am a huge sports fan! When it comes to my favorite teams, I am a hometown girl. I cheer for all teams from South Florida. The Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and the Miami Hurricanes. If I happen to catch a baseball or hockey game, it’s going to be the Marlins and Panthers.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
“Proud Mary” by Tina Turner or “Ironic” by Alanis Morrissette.
If you could eat one thing the rest of your life, what would it be?
Brisket! Or grilled hot dogs! Wait, maybe pound cake or… you know what, this is just too difficult to choose one thing!
What is the best piece of professional advice you’ve received?
No matter what, never stop believing in yourself! And to treat everyone in the building with the same respect, no matter their position.
What is your favorite place in the world?
Any place where the sun is shining, the sand is white and the water is blue!
Do you have any interesting or little-known facts about yourself?
I’m on an NFL Stadium Tour. I started it 4 years ago. 12 stadiums down, 19 to go!
What movie or TV quote are you most likely to use in conversation?
“Make the money, don’t let it make you.”
What was the inspiration that made you get into your field?
While working at the Orange Bowl, I fell in love with the rush and excitement of seeing an event go from an idea to execution. Seeing the joy on people’s face as they took part in the festivities was priceless.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Going to the conferences and connecting with the members. It is a great feeling knowing that what we do has a positive impact on advancing so many women in STEM fields and opening the doors of opportunity for them.
