Seven SWE-Sponsored Teams Competing at FIRST

This year seven SWE-sponsored teams have made it to the FIRST Robotics Competition finals in Houston, TX and St. Louis, MO!

Each year, SWE sponsors FIRST Robotics Competition teams, thanks to a program funded by the Motorola Solutions Foundation. This year seven teams have made it to the finals, which are this month in Houston and St. Louis! See below for our list of teams.

Women in STEM Panels

SWE will also be represented at the 4th Annual Women in STEM panels at FIRST in Houston and St. Louis. Get answers from the experts about careers, college, mentorship, working in STEM, and more.

One of our SWE-sponsored teams, 4201 Vitruvian Bots from DaVinci Science High School in Hawthorne, CA, won the FIRST Parody contest this year for their impressive song, “My Bot.” View their music video below!

Teams make a commitment to gender equity so that the gender ratio on SWE-sponsored teams is at least 50/50 girls and boys. They must have at least one girl in a technical role and complete SWE’s Outreach 4 Change online modules, which provide age-appropriate diversity and inclusion training.

All girls interested in engineering should join SWENext at swenext.swe.org. As a SWENexter, girls get the latest information on opportunities with partners like FIRST.
