SWE has hosted three successful WE Local events in Pittsburgh, San Jose, and Pune, India. In Pune, we more than doubled last year’s attendance. WE Local Amsterdam is coming up in May, and at least five events are planned next year.
WE Local announced the conference cities for 2018.
- Madison, Wisconsin
- Portland, Oregon
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Providence, Rhode Island
- Tulsa, Oklahoma
WE Local offers networking with fellow technical women who live in the area. Educational workshops and engaging sessions provide professional development designed specifically for women in engineering and technology. Attendees have the opportunity to meet with potential employers and connect with colleagues while developing their skills.
WE Local conferences are innovative, collaborative events. SWE sections along with SWE Headquarters work together to “Meet Locally. Learn Socially.”

PepsiCo/SWE Student Engineering Challenge
To encourage creative thinking and innovation among engineering students, PepsiCo and SWE have announced the launch of the third annual PepsiCo/SWE Student Engineering Challenge.
The challenge invites engineering undergrad students to develop original, technical solutions that would improve PepsiCo’s Global R&D around three areas: water, packaging, and equipment. Engineering undergrad students are invited to form teams of four and develop original, technical solutions to address challenges in three categories: water, packaging, and equipment.
