This year at WE18, we will be hosting our 9thannual Invent it. Build it., SWE’s flagship outreach event. SWE members have a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers by volunteering at Invent it. Build it.
Invent it. Build it. (IIBI) is an experience designed to encourage middle school and high school girls to choose a career in engineering. Students participate in a hands-on engineering experience with members of the Society of Women Engineers. While the girls are having fun building and inventing, parents and educators learn about engineering careers, scholarships, college admission and resources. All attendees learn about engineering clubs, camps, after-school programs and competitions at the Invent it. Build it. EXPO.
By taking part in IIBI, you are making a difference in the lives of girls, parents, educators, and other adult influencers. Here’s what SWE members had to say about their experience volunteering at IIBI:
“I never had any female role models growing up. I think this is a great opportunity for me to help girls realize that engineering can be a great career choice for them. I feel it is my duty to do it.”
“Great event! I loved helping and in fact helped more than just my original shift! Lots of fun and would definitely volunteer in the future to help out in any way!”
“I love Invent It Build It! I can't wait to volunteer again!”
Not only will you get warm fuzzies from volunteering, you’ll also earn 25% to 100% off your conference registration fees for WE19 in Anaheim, California.
Shifts will fill up, so sign up to volunteer today!
