Last fall, the SWENext Work Group of the Outreach Committee ran the 2nd Annual Collegiate Video Challenge to benefit SWENexters. SWE collegiate sections were asked to create a three-minute video about what makes their college and SWE section great, along with information about their engineering department.
This is all a part of our Outreach plan to create a library of videos that the SWENext students can use when they are researching colleges. SWENexters can watch these videos to learn about colleges across the country and about why being a SWE member in college is a great experience.
11 schools submitted amazing videos that showcased their love for their colleges and for SWE. Thank you to the following collegiate SWE sections who submitted videos this year!
- Bradley University
- California Baptist University
- California Polytechnic State University
- California State University, Fullerton
- Cornell University
- Georgia Institute of Technology
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- New Jersey Institute of Technology
- University of Kentucky SWE
- University of Washington
- Washington University in St. Louis
Thanks also to the volunteer judges (both SWE members and SWENexters) who helped determine the top three videos.
Congratulations to the winners!
1st place: Georgia Institute of Technology – $500 to be used for a future K-12 Outreach event
2nd place: California State University, Fullerton – $300 to be used for a future K-12 Outreach event
3rd place: Cornell University – $200 to be used for a future K-12 Outreach event
All videos submitted from both last year and this year are below and uploaded here for SWENexters to view.
This competition will be run again next fall so that more collegiate sections can participate and add their own voices and videos to our growing library on the SWENext YouTube channel. We encourage all collegiate sections who missed out this year to submit a video for the 3rd annual video challenge in the fall of 2019!
