Learn About Innovations in 3D Printing in this Web Session Series

Join us for two web sessions with additive manufacturing expert Todd Grimm as he delves deeper into the wondrous new technology of 3D printing.
Learn About Innovations In 3d Printing In This Web Session Series

3d printingAdditive manufacturing is better known as 3D printing, the technology that builds 3D objects by adding layer upon layer of materials such as plastic, metal, concrete, and even human tissue. Manufacturing parts on demand reduces cost as more complex parts can be built more easily with less waste. Additive manufacturing is only limited by the imagination of the user. Join Todd Grimm as we explore this innovative new technology.

Innovations in Additive Manufacturing #1: Landscape and New Solutions

Date: 8/15/2019
Speaker: Todd Grimm

Additive manufacturing (AM) is dynamic and ever-changing. Announcements of new technologies and improved solutions seem to occur on a weekly basis. Join us for a 30-minute webinar to receive a snapshot of existing AM technologies and newly announced AM solutions, coupled with highlights to offer guidance on what to consider as you evaluate AM for new, or existing, applications.

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  • Identify which technologies are commercial (can be purchased) and which solutions have merely been announced (cannot be purchased).
  • Discuss the true breadth of AM technologies, materials and processes.
  • Identify technologies that can assist in AM projects that are being evaluated/considered.

Innovations in Additive Manufacturing #2: Execution and Building Teams

Date: 8/15/2019
Speaker: Todd Grimm

Additive manufacturing (AM) can deliver exceptional benefits, but execution is not simple or easy. AM is similar to traditional methods, yet very different and it is constantly changing. This web session discusses the shift in mindset needed for projects to succeed and the importance of building teams to take on this expedition. It will also discuss the value of building a special team, a tiger team, to make process selection, implementation and applications a success.

By the end of this session, you should be able to:

  • Navigate the pitfalls of old-thinking that can derail an AM initiative.
  • Identify appropriate personnel for key roles in the AM journey and build a strong team.
  • Rationalize the creation of a specialized, focused team to support AM work.
